Science Education at the Rifes

We had our very own bird's nest right under our slide. I saw it begin from a few sticks and mud until it grew to a full on nest with eggs. It was so cool to see the process up close and personal. Jack loved it too and he was so good not to touch it since it was eye level for him.

We also ordered a butterfly kit in the Spring. We received our caterpillars in the mail and watched them turn into butterflies. Releasing them was great because they got right onto our finger and then flew to freedom.

Here they are in cocoon form. It was amazing to see them come out with their wings all balled up. When they emerged from the cocoon they leaked this red fluid all over...interesting. Definitely a cool experience.
